OUTREACH
We seek to be involved in the life of the community and the world through various ministries. Through Christian Aid, the official relief and development agency of the Church of Scotland, we participate in various campaigns against poverty and trade injustice. Partnerships:Local: Roseburn Primary School MPC partners with the local Roseburn Primary School. Together we learn about life in community both near and far. Roseburn students and teachers are also involved within the international partnership with Ghana, helping to host a teacher from Ghana and support the Ghana school with new books. International: Ghana A group of eleven people from the Church and Roseburn School visited Ghana in February 2008. As always they received a very warm welcome when they reached Kwamebikrom. They stayed in the new Guest House and although there is still no electricity or running water they were were made very comfortable and fed well. At the Durbah they were assured by the politicians that electricity would be in the village in the next few months - so watch this space! Go to http://mysite.orange.co.uk/edinmisc/Ghana.html for a full report and pictures. Other Involvement: Traidcraft: In support of fair trade we actively promote Traidcraft and have items for sale at the back of the sanctuary each Sunday. Fresh Start: MPC supports this local organisation which works to support individuals and families in the community who are in need of shelter. Community Council: With church representatives on the community council we are kept up to date on current events and have opportunity to provide input on additional ways the church can be involved more fully within the community. |
