OUTREACH

We seek to be involved in the life of the community and the world through various ministries. Through Christian Aid, the official relief and development agency of the Church of Scotland, we participate in various campaigns against poverty and trade injustice.

Partnerships:

Local: Roseburn Primary School
MPC partners with the local Roseburn Primary School. Together we learn about life in community both near and far. Roseburn students and teachers are also involved within the international partnership with Ghana, helping to host a teacher from Ghana and support the Ghana school with new books.

International: Ghana
A group of sixteen people from the Church and Roseburn School visited Ghana in February 2010. As always they received a very warm welcome when they reached Kwamebikrom. They stayed in the Guest House and although there is still no electricity or running water they were made very comfortable and fed well. The poles for the electricity were in place and the connection is almost completed. Meetings were held and discussions took place with regard to the next five year partnership agreement.

Other Involvement:
Traidcraft: In support of fair trade we actively promote Traidcraft and have items for sale at the back of the sanctuary each Sunday.
Fresh Start: MPC supports this local organisation which works to support individuals and families in the community who are in need of shelter.
Community Council: With church representatives on the community council we are kept up to date on current events and have opportunity to provide input on additional ways the church can be involved more fully within the community.
